Ha, now here is the opposite of what I usually hear about people doing! Please please do it, and take pics, and post it up all over Honda boards to start trouble!

yeh, i'm going to be working with Charlie (asubimmer) on making this happen, it might be a while before it could be completed, but it's being heavily looked into

yeah we gotta look into it but I think I know where we can get a full drivertrain for him. It'll be awsome if it works out. BMW MR2 lol

the 5SFE from my N/A mr2 weighs around 340 lbs, so just curious as to the weight of the m42.

ok, Just let me know when you find out Charlie, i'm sure someone in your family would know. I'm also wondering about the other BMW engines as well. I know an I6 won't fit, but some of the other I4s might be worth looking into

I honestly wouldnt bother. Arent there toyota motors that can be swapped in?yes there are plenty but its going outside the box. Who wants the exact same car as someone else. Plus he deep down inside wants a 318is ;)
Its about improving and being different, although I am against Domestic engines in Forign cars. Thats just not right.

i know you want to be different but i fail to see the point of this swap, unless you already have the engine. i know MR2s often get the more powerful Toyota engines with a much easier swap. But i guess you're not doing this to be like everyone else who swaps....but in my book a swap is unique enough.. Maybe stick with something japanese? Like how Miata's get SR20's, etc..

no, the idea behind the swap in a motor and transmission that are extremely solid and well built, plus trying something that hasn't been done before. The most popular swaps these days with MR2s involve swapping a V6 on the later GenIII motors into them, but the motors themselves are VERY expensive and take a lot of reworking of the hubs and such. I've been very pleased with every M42 i've been in, and would like to just try something new.
