View Full Version : is there a crankcase vent valve for a 93 318i m42

from the bentley manual, the m44 has it underneath the intake manifold but for some reason they do not have it for the m42 or im just not finding it....
any 92-95 m42 owners wanna chime in..
(sorry i meant to say crankcase vent valve)
please only knowledgeable m42 owners.....:)
does the m42 even have a cvv valve or pcv valve?
location of valve and or pic would be wonderful

you don't have it... there is another diagram for 1993 318i, or for cars before 1/1994 :) That valve was fitted from 1/1994. In your car the hose from the valve cover go straight to a fitting in the throttle body, without valves in the middle.

thank you very much...now i know my rough idle is not due to the crankcase vent valve/pcv valve.

check if the hose that is on the side of valve cover (the part on very top of the engine, the one with the brand ====BMW=== ;)) go straight to the throttle body to be 100% sure :)
(there should be a fitting under the throttle body)

yes the hose on top of the valve cover goes straight to the throttle body no crankcase valve underneath.

so I was right! :D now go ahead to find what's causing that bad idle ;)
