well men... this may be the last you see of the beloved beast...
i was driving south bound on fell avenue past marine drive in north van, in the left lane due to 3 cars turning in the right.... i accelerated to around maybe 50-55 when out of no where comes a lady in a van... SHE SLAMS ON HER BRAKES!?!?!??!?!? and stops right in front of me... maybe 10 feet.... so i CRAM on mine.... but to no avail... it was too late

i am fine.. jsut a little sore and a little pissed off
heres why i said it was write off... when i went to take it out of gear, the shifter would work... and i realized it was at the back of the shifter opening.. when it is normally at the very front since it has a short shift kit... PLUS... get this... the glove box was busted... and the HU face plate came off... and the amp in the trunk was ripped of its mount... so yeah... it was pretty hard

WOW I'm really sorry about your car. Any accident you can walk away from is a good accident. Best of luck with everything.

This has to be one of the only places in the world where a group of people know exactly how terrible you must feel. You've got my condolences from down south. We are pulling for you. Thank God you're ok.

Karma will avenge you my friend! That lacrosse mom will get what she deserves for destroying such a pretty and rare 318  at the rate of our demise there will be few of us left in 10 years.
Please don't thank god.. Thank Thor? or thank the wonderful engineers at bmw who were not too high on drugs to design a safe car! Woohoo.. have you ever seen that family guy were they have redneck discovery channel.... hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years ago, gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Bleak. Glad for no serious injuries.
Any chance your wheels are for sale? (At the risk of rubbing salt in your existing wounds.)

That blows man. Your car looks like it used to be really nice.
You gonna go searching for another 318is? Or do you want a different project car this time around?

oh man, that sux big time!! Your car was really nice (loved the wheels on it, it was a rare exterior color AND had the awesome rare interior)! http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4854
:(
Here's a suggestion -
negotiate w/ the insurance company - get a fair payout from them for your vehicle - then tell them you want to keep the car. Now you will have a check in your hand that you can bank - and you also still have the vehicle which you can either A) sell it as is and make $$$, B) part it out and make $$$ or C) buy another M42 and use all of the good parts from yours on it and sell the remnants for $$$...
You will make out by going the above route.
Sorry again for the loss, best of luck to you and getting things resolved.
Did you at least punch the lady in the head? :)
(btw - did you car have a driver's side airbag wheel - if so, how come it did not deploy?)
