Hi all,
can someone please tell me what torque setting needs to be on the thermostat housing bolts!!

i'm manage to crack 2 in the last 2 days!!

the first was me not checking and just thinking i know best and the second i set the torque to 7lb/ft......recommended from another site...crack!!

whats the best route forward....i'm getting p***** off

Also, i've just fitted a new rubber boot between the airflow sensor and throttle body and when i tried the car it wouldnt idle. i checked all the hoses etc and all is fine. (the car ran fine before changing the boot).

i just wondered if there is a butterfly in the throttle body i may have closed while cleaning the opening which is open at idle speed?

i didnt disconnect the battery before doing this.....should i have done before unscrewing the wires from the airflow meter?

cheers for any advice

jason

Not sure why the housing would keep cracking, unless it is not seating properly.

On the new boot did you plug the one hole in the bottom of it?....One hole is to be plugged and the other has the tee in it.

Use a small mirror to inspect the mating surface on the front of the engine. You probably have bits of the old gasket still stuck on there.

On the intake tube, check that the electric plug is properly connected to the AMM and wiring harness.

i'll check to see if the other hole has a bung?

whats an AMM??

on the thermostat front, should the gasket fit over the rubber seal on the thermostat. what i mean is once i put the thermostat in place and you but the gasket on you cannot really see the rubber 'o' anymore.....should the gasket sit along side the seal?
