Hello M42club Forumers,

I haven't driven my 91is for over a year because the right motor mount bracket has cracked and broken off of the front sub-frame. I have finally bought all of the parts and found some time to put her back on the road.

As I was replacing the sub-frame I also replace the front crank seal, oil pan gaskets, fixed oil pan cracks, sand blasted the upper oil pan, cleaned everything, put a 89i steering rack with new tie rods, new belts, alternator bushing, alternator ground strap and soon to come will be sealing up the transmission and then sand blasting the valve cover.

Sorry there is no write-up but I plan on making one, I posted for picture reference.

Wow, you sir, are lucky! It looks like you almost fell victim to the bolt getting into your oil pump problem some of us have encountered! Did you double-check the tightness of all the internal-upper oil pan bolts? They have a tendency to fall out. Did you find any other debris in there, like little steel shells or anything?

I noticed a little bit of cracking on the top of my passenger-side motor mount flange when I replaced my steering rack. A heavy bead of MIG wire took care of that, as well as beefing up the other 2 welds.

I put locktite on every oil pan bolt and I also checked torque on all crank bolts. I took my time and did it right.

I did not find any loose metal luckly.

I am taking it easy on this M42 because of the amount of rod bearing play. Soon I will have my 2.7i on the road and plan to put new rod bearings in this 202K+ M42

The dent on the oil pick up is from oil pan to curb contact:eek: Thats what I get for letting my foot slip off of the clutch on a decline whale its raining, Instant 180 strait in to a curb lol this little M42 has some crazy power.

I think I need that engine lift you have - instead of using a cherry picker, that looks pretty sweet!
