I had a BAD clacking noise so after research I decided to pull a few things off my engine. :)
After removing the upper and lower timing case covers I found that the long guide rail and the lower guide are BROKEN! Also I have visible wear on my upper guide and the tensioner guide aswell. Kindergarten pic follows:
*The long guide rails pieces where all smushed up above the lower guide.

- The chain looks fine and all gears and sprockets look fine aswell. (Not too sure about crank sprocket as it comes pointy new, correct?)
Another issue I ran into was when I removed the Oil filter housing. When I removed the housing I noticed that the top area was PACKED full of sludge mixed with shavings (from my chain rail?) The housing itself and the area on the case where it corresponds too is clogged aswell.

I also just removed my cylinder head aswell and will get it cleaned up and resurfaced after I get the camshafts off.
Some questions I had:
1. Anyone have any suggestions for good quality headgasket? Or should I just grab the one they have available at Pelicanparts? Does it matter to get a thicker gasket since i'm getting head resurfaced?
2. Another thing too is that the tensioner rail/guide has the plastic ''pitted'' at the top and the top guide has visible wear from the chain. Should I replace these two parts aswell?
3. I removed the camshafts and was curious how the Camshaft bearing ledge comes out. It didnt just seem to lift off although I didn't want to use too much force.
