Just wanted to be first to post here... :D
Still working on my interior, it's currently gutted, awaiting time and decent weather for the new dash and carpet.
Pic, so this isn't a totally worthless first post in the forum:

Are you doing any Dynamat or some other form of sound deadening?
Dan.
PS Congrats on being the first to post in the interior section.
FWIW I think this is a great addition to the m42 club.

Yes, I am, I'm using FatMat. I'll get some pictures up one of these days, if the weather ever cooperates.
And at this point, it is definitely going to be a puzzle, it's been apart for months... :(

You surely do have just a little work cut out for yourself! :D
How difficult or easy is it to remove the dash and did you remove yours to replace a cracked dash, or other?
I'm sure the Interior forum will take off soon! :D

Dash isn't really all that hard once you dive into it - hardest part was probably the heater controls.
Mine was cracked, and I wanted to redo the alarm wiring I did several years ago, so that it ran along with the stock harnesses as much as possible. I do have to say, it is much easier to install an alarm when there is no dash in, but some of the looms are guesswork as to whether it will actually fit back together as intended! :)

Getting there, slowly but surely -
New headliner is in, dash is at least in place if not fully installed, new carpet is in, rear seat is back in...

Excellent work. Where did you get the head liner and carpet from, price?
ak96ss

Carpet from BMA, it is new OEM carpet, probably more than anyone should pay even though it was a good price. Headliner came from Rob Scheiring, on R3V, in a group buy - IIRC, it was around $300 for the headliner and rear deck cover, which I didn't end up using since I just bought a new rear deck. Anyone want to buy an Alcantara rear deck cover?

Mmmm I want that headliner! How long did it take you to install???

Days... :D
It could be done in a solid, long day. I had it apart much longer, I was doing stuff, but it could be done. You'll want help, also, particularly when you are positioning the headliner for gluing. I used a crapload of binder clips to clamp it down for the glue.

It's also a PITA getting the rear side windows back in place, and I won't even go into the problems I was having with the lockstrip for the windshield.
Your biggest problem would probably be the sunroof - it is not fun, and there are a lot of little bitty screws.

That looks beautiful though. Congrats sir. I want to redo mine, but I thought you couldn't do something like this because we have "hung" or "suspended" head liners? Did you fabricate something to glue the fabric to?
ak96ss

The only 'hung' parts are two metal rods that run across the inside of the roof - the replacement headliner has a loop you pass the rod through, hanging the headliner.

EDIT: See the two seams over the rear seat in the completed pictures above? That's where the rods go.

Been awhile. I just had a 115lb pain in the ass removed so I have been too busy for the car. Thought I would post these pics and you guys could shame me into finishing the interior.
Seats will be leatherique
Carpet has been dyed charcoal
CD 43 ready for dash
M Tech replacement wheel in hand
Console painted w OEM trim. Really looks great against the carpet.
This is how it looks now. The hula girl goes in the plane with me as a turbulence indicator. In the car she becomes a shift indicator.
Comments are welcome

Is that group buy still running??? I need to buy a new headliner as mine has a few tears and yours just looks absolutely AMAZING! I can imagine it being a complete bitch though. What type of glue were you using?
What all did you end up absolutely having to remove to do the headliner?!
Please tell me thats not your plane in the background FL318is? How long did it take you to get muli-engine certified?

I bought it last year, so I doubt that that particular GB is still going, but you never know. PM rscheiring on R3V and see what he has to say.
To replace the headliner you have to remove:
Rear Window
Windshield
Both rear side windows (coupe only), including the little wing behind them
Sunroof panel, flip-up wind deflector, and some of the cable hardware
Sunroof liner has to be taken out to be recovered
Visor-area head panel, visors, check panel
OMG handles, interior lights, upper part of door seals
B-pillar covers, which means upper part of seat belts and those hooks as well
Rear deck cover, which means rear seat also
Rear seat side trim panels, under the windows
EDIT: Here's a picture of the disassembled stuff... :)

In the interests of full disclosure, I had to ask my wife to break out the sewing machine and modify the headliner as delivered - the loops/pockets that hold the rods ran the full width of the headliner on the new one, but the original has the pockets ending 4-5 inches back from the edge, to allow enough material to wrap around the C-pillar. So, the pockets had to be cut back then reinforced so they wouldn't tear through. Not a lot of work, but something to be aware of, particularly if you don't have access to a sewing machine.
In all honestly, given the amount of labor involved, unless you are absolutely committed to doing it yourself I would recommend you have a shop do the work. It wasn't technically challenging, but it was a PITA.
I used 3M Super Trim Adhesive, pn 08090, and followed the directions - 3 coats on both sides, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then stick it all together.

Nice job John.
I want to put a the same headliner in my car.
I like your rear seat. Perforated with the arm rest nice.
Definetly one of the best cars on the board.
