Supersprint is great quality, but pricey. BMP is (or was) offering free shipping on them and I also believe they come with a $100 gift certificate. There is a lot of talk about how crappy the stock muffler is, but the reality is that a better muffler only allows about a 1.5 horsepower improvement.

Custom 3" side exhaust, no cat or muffler...

^^ It actually sounds nice but it is a turbo built m42 lol so idk about that haha.
I have a e36 318is muffler on mine now and it sounds pretty decent. I am going to mess around with some custom piping and such to see what I can get out of that.

Mine has only a cat and some cheap muffler with better flow, no idea of the brand but it sounds ok.
I have heard Febi's and it is just too much personally. Even he thought so,at least at first.
I have found the best sound from an M42 comes from the intake. Cut the box, and pull some sound from there.

Could you elaborate on "Cut the box"?
I wouldn't mind getting abit more induction growl but a cone filter will just rob power.
I have a Powerflow exhaust on mine... Got a good few compliments, When it's idling, peopl ask "Has that got a 325 engine, ya"?
Must get a video or sound clip of it actually:)

Im guessing the cut out box would be the swiss cheese holes? I did this on my last e30 a 87 325is with a m30 afm and it actually did have a deep throaty sound at WOT. I see that as a free cool mod.
I need to get rid of the raspy ricey sound from my exhaust. Anyone know what I can do? The muffler shop that did the e36 muffler on my car said that installing a glass pack should quiet it down a bit.

I have his original Metric Mechanics exhaust on my car. Its pretty loud and a bit raspy but once you hit 4800 rpms it sounds great.

I've got a magnaflow on mine right now-sounds great, but it is a bit loud. I don't have a resonator, so I will probably be putting a glasspack in where the resonator normally goes.

I could possibly agree!!! What a sound!
A very nice looking care too, even for an E36:D
My Powerflow backbox is after breaking, going getting it replaced since there is a lifetime guarnentee, It actually sounds more or less the same as the Magnaflow actually.
Wouldn't mind a Eisenmann now that I've had a listen!

That Eisenmann sounds too ricey to me.
Sounds better than most rice, but still has a rice sound to it at least from the outside.
Inside the car it sounds decent, even if a bit loud.

Would installing a glasspack where the resonator goes cut down the raspy sound?

Answer for the question about installing a glasspack in place of the resinator will cut down on the ricer sound. YES. That's what I did with my car after I made a custom exhaust which eliminate the cat and resinator.
