M42 Engine For Sale

Engine from 94 318i, swapped into e30. Has all V-belt pulleys. Motor comes complete with everything except starter. All new seals and gaskets (have receipts from BMA) including HG and profile gaskets. Engine makes chain slapping noise at 3k to 3500. Replaced chain tensioner twice, and just a few months ago replaced chain and all rails (again, this time with genuine BMW parts) in attempt to rid noise. Have put 10k+ miles on engine with noise with no ill affects.

I'm upgrading to 6 cylinder power. I have spent over $600 in parts for this M42 engine in the past 18 months. I would like to get $300 and will consider all offers. Please email rachel.shimp@gmail.com

Still for sale? Have u had a mechanic check out the noise? Do you know how much for freight shipping to CA? It might be worth it for me....

This motor threw a rod. No longer for sale as complete motor.

The m50 swap is awesome. My advice would be..if your m42 has crapped out on you, don't buy another junk motor -- get something else!

Was this related to the timing issue not being fixed completely?

Yes, what caused the engine failure, any determination?

Do you have a listing of parts w/ prices from the old motor?
