I guess this is the place were I discribe who I am. Well I live in utah and work as a Ferrari Mechanic during the week and on some weekends work on a Ferrari challange team as a mechanic. I have been into cars since I was 6 years of age and love european cars respect asian cars and cant stand domestic cars. This is based on the quality of build and duarbility.

I drive a diamond black 318is and have fallen in love with it, I drive some very fast cars and still enjoy my 318is every time I drive it.

I have to agree, the only difference would be that my car has no sunroof. I will try to take some today and post them

Dammit I WISH I had a super rare sunroof-less E30. Wait no. When I autoX the helmet makes me too tall...I have to lean over & put my head out the open sunroof.

how did the MAF conversion work for you? did you see much in the way of throttle response? do you like the smt6 piggyback?

Put your stock sports seats adjustability to use. I hope you are aware you can "lower" your seat height by pushing the adjustable upper portion lever downwards. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS IN A POSITION SUCH THAT THEY WILL GET SQUASHED, I learned the hard way many years ago.

I loved the MAF conversion, it was one of the mest things to do to this engine. If I ever had to buy another 318ism42 I would make this a priority.

Approximately what is the cost and requirements for this MAF conversion?

Well, glad to know the MAF conversion is worth the effort. How have you interfaced the SMT-6? Do the Motronic outputs go into it and it adjusts them according to your tuning? My experience with piggyback systems is limited.

And as far as the seat thing...that was in my previous car with Corbeau seats, non height adjsutable. They sat lower than the stock sport seats are capable of though...I guess I will see how it works at the next autoX.

bmwman, the smt6 alters the load signal going into the motronic. also alters the VR signal if you want it to. they're supposed to be ok, have the same limitations as systems such as S-AFC etc.
i'd always liked the m44 throttle response and torque, figured a MAF would be quite nice. been in an m20 with MAF was good too. never found it a big difference though. the difference is more pronounced on a s14 etc.
