Anyone know anything about these or who makes them? I can't see any brand name on the lenses in the pics.

DEPO most likely. Lets just say you get what you pay for...

Pretty cheap no doubt. I upgraded to higher wattage bulbs and that helped a bunch. I really should just kill myself and buy a HONDA..

Ellipsoids for the E30 normally use H1 bulbs and they send you a wiring harness for 9005/9006 bulbs. There's some changes necessary or so I've heard.

Best headlights for our cars i've discovered to be Hellas.

I've got those same lights and they are great. No complaints at all about them, everyone on E30 boards slam them...but they aren't shitty like people make them out to be. As D.Clay said, they come with the wrong wiring harness so you are going to have to buy the correct connectors and wires from the dealer, but it's a pretty easy install...just some splicing and sautering needs to be done.

I already have ellipsoids, bosch e-code non-smiley ones. I need a new low-beam lens, since my passenger side shattered, courtesy of a rock thrown by an 18-wheeler. Looking at these, I was debating whether it was worth just getting a brand new set with fresh glass and everything.

My low-beams have the city lights, so the lenses from mr. lens which don't have the little diffuser won't match the other unbroken side lens. It would look stupid.

Also, the item on ebay I'm talking about looks identical to the hella and bosch smilies, minus the brand name on the lens.

I e-mailed and asked them. They're DEPO's.

In other words, stay away. They're shit.

I too have these lights with no problems- $150 shipped I paid over a year ago and another $10 for the BMW wiring and connectors...no water inside the housing, decent beam pattern (i think pretty great) compared to sealed beams.

I wouldn't buy them for a pristine e30 M3, but for a daily driver 318is why not.

For the monetary savings, I think DEPOs might be worth it. I have yet to hear of serious problems with them. Or, if you don't care about the coolness of the smileys, the H1/H4 conversion is very good.
