It's time to tackle on the the ignition system on my project car.. Has anyone heard anything about the wire on the link below? Do you have any suggestion which performace wire to get? The one came with the car appears to be the original wires at 170K in a 1991 318is. Some inputs is greatly appreciated.

If you are also thinking about coils, the COP conversion is the way to go.

I'm running magnecor right now but I also just replaced my coils .With that amount of miles on your car I'd do the cop conversion also. But if you want good ,inexpensive wires ...........

OTOH, I stuck with stock plug wires. They certainly aren't junk, and I'm not convinced that aftermarket wires offer any real benefits on these motors.

Of course, if I had to do it again, I would seriously consider the COP conversion. Having just done new wires and coils last year, though, I'll be waiting a little longer before I look into that! :)

After replying earlier I found that link in my favorate. I read through it, it looke like a very handy guy with the correct tools for the right job. I was not all that convince that I will the mod for my M42 basing that from the fact all that work to do a mod and nothing to gain but room in the engine bay. Since the same gentlemen mentioned that going stock wires are cheaper and will be more consisitant without going through the mod. I think I will replace the old wires with some OEM and not think about getting some high performance, highly prize wires and nothing to gain from it.

Since my "Mr. Fabricator" vain has pop up in me I will find the means to shorten the wires. Instead of being routed close to the exhaust which promote increase in resistance. I am in work in relocating the coil pack to the battery tray area and shorten the wires to the plugs. I am sure there's a
8mm plug wire set so I can use the same ends to the plugs and coil.

That looks good. Good workmanship. Blue would look too "superman" on my red car but I'm considering painting the intake and valve cover a darker "crinkle-finish-red". I'd like to polish them but that'd take FOREVER.

Thank you for those nice words. I thought of doing the same thing as far as polishing them the surface it to course for that and yes it would have taken some time.
