In a way, Febi started this question in process! He mentioned how easy it was to install iS sideskirts. It was sunny and 50 degrees out today so I decided to do some work on the car.

I took the iS sideskirts I had sitting in my basement out and took a look on how to install them.

I can see how the bottom plastic clips attach, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere for the white clips (on the lower part of the picture) to connect to the car. Do I need to drill holes? Are the holes under the black part somewhere?

What about this hole in the front part?

How about these two holes that go near the rear wheel well?

yikes... I just got back in the saddle here, and I apologize for not being more detailed re: the sideskirt install... ok:

I am rust/drill phobic... I used a small qty of body panel adhesive instead of the two plastic rivets on the end piece and on the small forward piece... so far, no problems. I will take a look in the light tomorrow and verify that they are snug.

A guy near me who also did the install used self-tapping screws for the end of the long piece... that gave me the willies, but to each their own.

I agree with the no drilling. I'm not a fan of that either!

What about the row of white plastic clips that run across the top of the sideskirt? There is nothing on my car for them to snap into?

hey, just got back in... glue for the plastic clips... checked this AM, everything is still tight.

Glue it all, eh :D

What type of body panel adhesive did you use? Is it something I can get at the local autozone? are you concerned that it'll take the black part off if you ever decide to take the sideshirts off - or are they never coming off?

Thanks for the help so far. Putting these on may be a nice summer project for me.

gorrilla glue?

Oh yeah, until it expands, foams out, and then I have tan foam all along my sideskirts. Love it! :p That crap is strong but messy.

I used 'strategically placed' small blobs of a generic (i think SEM) two-part panel epoxy. I wasn't really concerned about taking the skirts off ...yet.

Something like this stuff?

I hope this long URL works:

I know, I'm not only a neurotic mess but I'm, well, ashamed I used glue.... I swear I didn't inhale though.

I know it is scaaary drilling into the car body but you will be surprised how tough it is to penetrate. I hope you have a corded 1/2' drill, b/c it is a torque grinding event! I haven't done the side skirts thing, and really don't intend to, but I have drilled many a hole in cars, and BMWs are just about the toughest.

Are the iS sideskirts the same as the MTech 2 sideskirts?

Yeah, they do look good! I wonder how much modification, if any, is required to make them fit.

I'll probably stick with my E30 ones since I already have them and they're already painted red as they were pulled from a red E30 in Germany somewhere..
