Bad Diff Bushing

Could this be the culprit of my clunk? Seems like it's time to get an M coupe bushing.

I ahven't been under my car many times since I bought it(the parts are layin in my room) so I'm hoping mine isn't that bad and is still good.

What's the easiest way to tackle replacement?

you gotta remove the diff cover and press it out. last time i had to do this (cab's) i used a punch, it took about 10 min aside but it beats 40 min drive to vancouver to use the press at the machine shop.

man that looks rough. I don't have clunks but that makes me not want to look under my car so I don't start buying tons of bushings, although it wouldn't hurt. I really want to change my rear subframe bushings.

The differential is bolted to the rear crossmember. If the rear of the differential moves radially opposite the torque of acceleration, it seems that there would also be a degree of flex in the crossmember bushings. I am waiting on the parts to drop the crossmember and replace all of the bushings and brake lines at the same time. My 318is has 198,000 miles on it.

Bimmerworld carries a urethane version for 8 bux more than the stock bushing, think I'll go with this one.

edit: the street bushing in the link above is like group N rubber, good/bad?
