Hey guys, my name is Nick and I have the privledge of owning an e30 318is. My car has been originally owned by my parents and has been babied its whole life and is brilantrot. I have 134K on the M42 and it is going strong. I am looking to get another e30 to turn into my track car/daily since the one I have now deserves to only see nice weather. I'm also very intersted in the metric mechanic m42 if anyone has any good or bad thoughts on it let me know. I'm located in Michigan if there are any other locals let me know.
The car has had a few modifications, I have a Dinan Chip, Dinan stage 1 suspension with koni adjustibles and dinan springs. I run a 17" BBS RX in the summer and hawk hp+, I also have a z3 1.9 lever, and stainless steel brake lines. I like to take the car to the track and if I keep driving it daily I will probably upgrade the sways and bushings. When it gets warm in the spring I plan on getting a cat back exhaust, let me know if there are any recomendations, at the moment I am thinking about getting a Dinan one just for continuity's sake.
I will post up some pictures of my ride tomorrow.

I've heard good things about supersprint. You're also on r3vlimited right? Nice car, I think i've seen it on there :). Can you post some more pics off the track of the car?

Purty. Cat-back exhaust - Either have a shop do up some tubing and go with a muffler in stainless steel or penny up for the supersprint and other variants. I am a advocate for the former over the latter suggestion.
Nice to see that more of you guys having fun with 318iS out there on the track

Thanks for the welcome guys, the car is in very very good shape (interior has no rips/tears) and has seen minimal winter usage its whole life.

Yea i post over on e30tech, no spring hats, I don't think the wheels/tires weigh much more then the stocks I haven't put them on a scale or anything either, but from carrying them the stocks are only slightly lighter.
Thanks for the kind words, happy to find a site where we all have a m42 e30 incommon.
So is the superspring any good, i got a bmp newsletter today and they have dropped the price a bunch and now has the cheaper shipping, it might be enough to convince me to buy one.

I've been scanning the Dinan site seeking the Stage 1 set-up for a 318, to no avail. Is your package for a different car? A 325 variant maybe? I would love to know the details.

Well i dont know if they use different springs or not, the website hasn't been good with the e30 stuff, the shop I talked to make sure it worked. I was also considering a Dinan exhaust last year and while it does not show up in their product book I called and they can still make them.
I think you can do a similar setup with h&R sports/konis/bilsteins.

Very nice car...gives me hope for my brilliantrot. I've never heard of the dinan exhaust but I've heard a lot of good about the supersprint...how it lasts forever and makes a very nice sound. Also if you want info on the MetricMechanic's M42 you should contact Febi_Guibo, he has one and seems to be enjoying it a lot. Keep us posted with more track pics, it's cool to see fellow M42 owners using the car as it should be used :D

I have the SS on mine since 2001 and it still looks brand new. I noticed in the BMP photo that they removed the pre-muffler (resonator). I wish it came that way when I got mine since I want to remove it to save wieght and improve the flow. The new price is less than I paid back in 2001 making it a good deal for the quality. Going by The way it is holding up, it will probably outlast the car. Another benifit is the sound it makes. It almost sounds stock at idle but gets deeper and louder at wot. (not ricey)

Thanks for the info I might be using part of my tax return on one and wait for the warm weather to come back before installing.

Hey, Very sweet lookin E30! Your car has a nice simple look to it, which is why i love the E30 body just amazing! What size are those BBS rims?
17X8 or 17X7.5 & offset, did they fit right on? Post some more pictures, Thanks!

Well I haven't updated this in a while, but time to let you know what has happened since the last update. The car now has a supersprint that I installed last spring I love the sound of it and the quality and fitment was great, I highly recomend them. I recently replaced the control arms, tie rods, and have m3 offset bushings. I also have added the IE 22/19 adjustable sways, and replaced all the shocks/struts with Bilstien Sports after a pothole blew a strut last fall. I have also added some H1/H4 Headlights over the stock sealed beams what a nice improvement.
Dpg, the rims are 17x7.5 BBS RX I don't remember the offset right off hand but I believe i'm running a 11mm spacer, no rubbing issues and i have a 215/40/17 hanhook RS2 Z212. I'm taking it out to the track next weekend and can't wait to really drive it again.
