Hello, i`m having some, i`ll tell you my story.
Bought 318iS - nice engine, but too low nM for me, so i decidet to buy from my friend m20b27 - build with 2.5 head - and other stuff.. at all - nice - powerful engine...

installed engine...
installed m20b25 engine wiring - and connected to C101 clip - at originall 318is.

Now i`m having problem, that - there`s no spark and fuel pump isn`t giving the fuel to injectors...

maybe some body, has did the swap like me, and knows some tips - what should i do? today i`ll checked that 318is that round wiring - has 11 wires, but bottom 325 - 16 wires... maybe i need to install some additional wires?

thanks guys :)

did you swap to the 325 engine management and wirring harnesses? it doesn't sound like it... you need a 325 ecu and cables to be swapped in. nice e30 by the way.

Hi neighbours ;)

I think you should replace ECU, if done it you should take multimeter and test all compenents wiring from ECU connector.

Why not M50? :)

swapped m20 engine with m20 engine wiring and m20 motronic ECU.
But "car" wiring - left old - 318iS wiring. fuse box and other things.

Why not m50.

Because i got this engine for cheap money, and that`s not stock engine, but guy build - engine is real powerful.

And i thouhg that swap will be easy,... now i`m thinking another thougts "about" easy swap... :(

you should know that the M42 have direct ignition from ECU, and do not have relays at all for this function, it could be that M20 need few extra..

are you getting 12v at the injectors?
and your getting 12v at the coil?

are you getting spark from the coil it self?
Whats the ECU # ?
Post up the wires in the C101 plug on both sides,
the numbers and colors,

Also what have you swapped with your friends 325i? And got no results
