Marine Clean, sold by the makers of POR15, is awesome stuff for this.

If its half the product POR15 is, then its going to be the best thing there is. POR15 takes the gritt of sand paper when you try and sand it after its fully curred!! expensive as hell tho.
back on topic: steam cleaners work great.

I used Tal-StripII aircraft coating remover. It took everything off right down to the original finish. I bought it at a local auto parts store for 24.00$ a gal.

Well I bought some brake cleaner and some brass brushes and have started the decosmolining process. I have come up with a good method. Spray a small section of the motor, let the liquid dry(10-15 seconds on a cold motor). Then spray a second layer and scrub with a lot of pressure. Brings it right off...I'll post up pics of my progress tomorrow.

WTF is the reason for cosmoline anyways? My bro's m20 had dried drip marks all over his... nasty stuff. Mine is just generally discolored.
Brakleen might work and its cheap, Im going for that por15 stuff, just to have around.
