Well, I got an REI gift card, and had some $ left over from the last paycheck (which is unusual with school loan payments and whatnot). So, I got myself some climbing shoes, being tired of bare-footing it and all. They are some Mad Rock Phoenix shoes. From what I was told, they are good all-around multi-purpose climbing shoes. I am not a super duper pro climber, nor do I go out all the time, so some less expensive, versatile ones fit the bill.

I also hooked myself up with a Nicros Warrior Board finger-board. Doing pull-ups on door-jambs got boring, so this should be fun. I decided to make a backing board for it, too, just so I can mount it anywhere I please. The hoels in it will only line up with the standard 16" spaced studs...so this lets me put it in headers and whatnot. I used some 15/32nds plywood. I sanded it over with a 1/4 sheet vibratory sander, 100 grit first to get big imperfections and to knock down the corners, then some 220. Therafter I hit it with some 400. Next, some Varathane (talk about some potent fumes, even when well ventilated)! I hit it with 220 grit after a day, and now the 2nd coat is drying. Should be [Borat voice]very nice[/Borat voice].

Phew, that ended up being a lot longer than I expected! Damn you, crazy fumes!
