My first bimmer and there is so much to learn, so I look forward to good advice and sharing knowledge with everyone.

looks nice and clean, you should consider painting the rear is spoiler black for more contrast ;)

I eventually want to paint the trim and possibly get some side skirts. taking my time with that one... def gonna tint the windows to get that contrast.
paint is all original and in amazing condition.

Yea..I was lucky enough to find it on craigslist about a month back. Owners before me obviously kept her in beautiful shape with routine maintenance, tasteful modifications, etc. much respect to them for that. i will do my best to continue that tradition.
love this car.

I like the OEM look of the front spoiler, etc. Mine has 200,000 miles but everything has been replaced except the engine, trans, and differential. I would recommend - along with a lot of others here - pulling the lower oil pan. It's a half hour job and a gasket. You can see if there's debris from timing chain rails, etc. Be sure to clean and oil or anti-sieze the bolts before putting them back in. A 1991 318is is (insert word meaning the best).

It was definitely worth the 5k pricetag. Congrats and enjoy the car!

"Max": I REALLY like that car. Don't see too many silver 318is's. The fender gap seems just about perfect. Can you provide the suspension details?

Since I bought the car with the suspension on it - I am not positive off hand what the exact setup is. I have another set of wheels with snow/mud tires on it that I am going to put on tomorrow. I will get a better look at the suspension and post details. Right now I have a pair of EXTREMELY stubborn spacers I need to remove.
Anti-seize - nothing
Small flat blade and a rubber mallet - nothing
A light torching - we'll see.

Mission accomplished. Have the stockers back on with winter tires. Anyway...
Can you provide the suspension details?
Here are links to my exact setup. Easier than typing it out..

Very Nice... Love the rims... 15 or 16? I like these Ronals.. Not BBS but a nice look ALOT cheaper. This is the motor from my 318is I'm doing over. Deflector wheel ripped right off the block.. AND the owner kept driving it...chain jumped a few teeth...you can guess the set.....ZERO TOELRANCE MOTOR..

Yea..16". Those RONALS are really nice. I wish my BBS basket weeves had more of a lip. Eventually I want to find a somthing very similar... very cool.
Good luck with the repair!

Thos pirelli's are nice, I had them on my Subaru WRX. Treadwear 400, handle like you would expect a nice pirelli too. However, they cost a buttload (or did for 17") and as M+S tires, compromise a little performance. (for most people isnt the end of the world)
