No, not a GT. I would have had my ass handed to me. It was a V6. Honestly, the new V6 is a lot better than the previous one.
So I am at a light and some guy who looks to be in his 40's is driving with his son. He revs the engine at me...there were no cops and traffic was light, so why not? Basically, we were even up to 60mph, I was pulling a little.
The motor MUST not breathe for a damn up top, because the higher he revved it, the further in front of him I pulled. When it shifted he gained back up, but all in all, it was basically shamed by a little mostly stock 1.8L. Now, AFTER 60mph I bet it would pull on me a little just due to it being in its low/midrange power sweetspot longer, but I did not want to go too nuts in a 45mph zone.
The previous Mustang V6 got crapped on all day long by the M42. Whatever they did to it for the 2006+ Mustangs they did better. Back like 4 years ago I raced the floor manager of a local Ford dealer in his new Mustang GT. We were filling up at a station and he wanted to race an old BMW. I said sure. He must not have been a good driver though, because by 100mph I had almost a car length on him, and once the road started to turn he was way back. I KNOW that the 4.6L was a good motor, so I attribute that to him being bad with the shifter. Nevertheless, he was impressed by the thing...I had to tell him a couple times that it was just a 1.8L with no turbo and no NOS. :p
