I m about to change my shock absorbers, I want to know what brand is the original brand and if s/one knows the part number, another question is what is the paret number for bilsteins HD cause I cant find something like that in europe, they only sell bilstein sports which as far as i know are too stiff and I wouldnt like to change the stiffness of my ride, are the HDs lowering the ride?does anyone know the part number for these? I was also told that I should change my silent blocks, is it better to use urethane or just try to find the m3 part regarding I dont want the stiffness to change, thanks in advance guys, if there is another thread about that please delete thin one thanks again

I have the H&R sports with the Bilstein sports. They have settled in and the ride is stiffer. For me thats not a problem. The drop was at least and inch and a quarter.
There is a thread regarding suspension and opinions. I am not sure where it is. This link should help. Good luck and keep us posted.

The OEM replacements are now called "Touring"
They're very good. I have them on my car. I too found the HD's and Sports as little too stiff for the street.
Tourings are about US$230 for four.

OEM Shocks would be Boge shocks. Heres the BMW part number 31321135892 front 33521135888 rear. Bilstein HD are stiff and they are meant to be used with OEM springs though a lot of people use them with lowering springs. As for the bushings or silent blocks, urethane does make the ride stiffer, you should look for M3 parts.

I used ot have Bilstein Sport's, but the stiffness got annoying, and the lowered car's oil pan met a rock 10 miles from phone service.
I now have some Boge TurboGas shocks and really like them. The originals were Boge fluid-hydraulic ones that seem to blow relatively fast if driven hard. Look for some of the TurboGas ones.
