Nice to see another rider. I own a '90 FZR 1000. However, the engine is on its last legs. Don't know how much longer it'll last. This lends to the possibility of using the carbs on my M42. Dunno. Have to see. I do know I'll keep the fizzer. I'm planning to swap a newer R1 engine into her. Just have to plan the fabbing of the engine mounts and all.

Hey another Yammie owner! FZR's are the bomb, the technical mother of all modern R1's and the first true superbike.

Cool. Reminds me of when I started rebuilding the engine for my Mazda. Hrm. It's still sitting at my machinist's shop. I should get off my ass and finish that engine. I'll have to do the same thing to my M42 soon, I imagine. It has 220k on it right now. :(

Hey... In one of the pics of the race car, there is a funnel sitting on the spoiler. Is that going into anything, or did someone just hang it on there?

Froos
05-26-2006, 05:02 AM
Ehhrr yeah that is like "custom euro race stiping...."" lol
Nah our fuel inlet is there, big hole in the body with a nice twist cap thingy

Love the rims and the car color. I fly with a friend of mine from Belgium. He has an Audi but loves the drive of my 318iS, which BTW is the same color as yours. Let us know if you need parts.

Hey guys, thx for the comments, he is from belgium and flies with you? Are you a pilot? Would he be able to bring back a lightweight flywheel? What is nice about Belgium (among other things offcourse) is that its next to germany, so i spend hours searching the german ebay for parts. But a FW is not available here..

You belgium guys are sure lucky. It's like rednecks and Ford/Chevy's here probably in terms of parts/prices but the only difference is everyone admires Bimmers. :) Welcome.

I probably overlooked this, but what are you doing with the motor? Full rebuild? Stoker?

Froos
01-07-2007, 06:51 PM
Yeah its goin to be a full rebuild, new pistons/bearing etc. Also going to balance pistons, rods. Shaving off kilo's on my (non dual mass)flywheel. Elestric fan, Custom exhaust after header. Prob flow the head too. Looking at some TB's off an m3, maybe they will fit somehow? Also catcam company is 5 minutes away and through my raceteam i can get a good deal on a set of cams. I was looking at their "just a bit better than stock" cams, which uses stock springs, because i would like to maintain(is that correct english??) some drivebility (damn Im so tired I cant type anymore....or spell), but claim to give another 15-20 hp extra with good chip. Also got a chip (the cheap ebay one).....ill try to keep most of the stuff on this threat

jajou318
01-07-2007, 08:46 PM
sweet. how much are you getting your cams for? (well hmmm not sure if that'd help since it wouldn't be a price in usd) I'm getting a set regrinded to a schrick profile for $75 usd each.

The second and third pictures at the beginning of this thread made my cabin fever spike. I watched three teenagers race RC cars behind a hobby store at the mall yesterday for over an hour. I've got it bad.

Froos
01-07-2007, 09:22 PM
cams should be around 600E so times 1.29 is 774 usd about, but i want to keep my stock cams in case i need to change back..

Yeah ive got remote controled cars too, very adictive!! The 2 and 3th pic are cars from my race team

lol, i used to be in the r/c scene... but those things get way too $$$ when upgrading them or just replacing broken parts..

Froos
01-09-2007, 04:51 AM
Yeah exactly, but my HPI RS3 4 now has all the carbon bits so a E30 M42 was the ONLY logical next step! hihi

Yeah, I didn't think it was the same thing. Is yours wrapped in vinyl or leather? Can't really tell from the pics. Also, are you saying the piece you have is a factory BMW part? I had no idea they made that.

Lukas motors really has a great heat shield, i can post some pics but its not installed yet..
I thought the one I just bought, is wrapped in leather, was a OEM M3 or alpina part, but optional. You can see em installed on this pic

03-29-2007, 07:29 PM
Wow, I love what you're doing witht the car. Wish I had the time, space, money, etc. to get something like that off the ground.

BTW I race R/c, I have 7 of them. 2 carpet/pan cars, an HPI RS4 rally, an Associated RC10, a kyosho Mini-z, a Losi XXXT, and an Xmod. Great stuff, but it is expensive...

Froos

Just a small update of ongoing work, be sure to check the bottom picture! All the lost weight is where it matters most, the outer ring

Hi gearhead, well if you spread the work over a long period, money wise it aint so bad! On R/C i recently added a sailing boat to the list! check www.micromagic.nl (http://www.micromagic.nl)

Seems to me that an RC sailboat wuold be difficult. Very hard to tell where the wind is coming from.

I'm interested in knowing how much of a difference the LTW flywheel makes. Have you had it on the car yet? the 28 lbs. stocker is way too heavy...

Froos
04-18-2007, 03:39 AM
My car didnt have a aircon so it was 9.9 Kg, nice 15% lighter this way. I havnt had time to try it out yet, my engine is being rebuilt.....

Froos
10-08-2007, 06:59 AM
Got my new cams in:
Catcams:

269 / 269°
225 / 225°
10.00 / 10.00mm
2.00 / 1.55mm

Stock
255 / 255°
207 / 207°
9.70 / 9.70mm
0.90 / 0.65mm

Now just reassemble the engine and getting a remaped ecu to make the cams work
