I'm rebuilding my M42 motor for a project and before I send everything off to the machinist, I need to test fit the engine into my Locost 7 chassis - the completed engine/tranny assembly. To do so, I need bolts to get the head onto the block. Does anyone have an old set from a recent rebuild?

When I purchased my engine the head was already removed with no bolts and I don't want to use new ones to simply test fit the engine for fitment. Its not going into an E30 chassis so it'll be moved around a lot more than I'm willing to chance by just resting it on the block. Would also like to get the engine completely rebuilt to make sure I'm not missing any parts.

The head bolts specs from memory are 90mm, M10 x 1.50 bolts. One option is to grab generic bolts to hold the head in place for your purpose. How easy is it to get metric bolts where you are?

Its the 90mm that's going to be hard to find.

Metric Mechanic have an upgrade head bolt which is 100mm socket headed bolt (Link - page 5 (http://www.metricmechanic.com/pdfs/metric-mechanic-m42-and-m44-engine-booklet.pdf)). Will 100mm bolts be more available?

I just replaced my head and may still have the old bolts. I'll check the garage if you still need them.

If you have them, let me know. Otherwise I think I found a set that would work from boltsonline.com for $1 each.
