View Full Version : #1 on Big Search Engines for M42 Club Searches!

Well, I checked Google to see how the club was doing this evening.
Running searches for:
"M42 Club" and "M42Club" yield our forum as the #1 result. It made my evening to see that! Talking to sheepdog, he said he worked on the meta tags for the site and they must have (obviously) propagated through the search engines.
On Yahoo we are #1 for those, as well as "BMW M42 Forum" Oddly enough, that search brings up the Decal Ordering Information thread.
Altavista puts us at the top as well. Other lesser known engines bring us up as well.
There is a Yahoo group for the E30 318is. They were founded in October of 2001, and have 263 members. I would say that we are doing a bang-up job here! Is anyone here a member there as well? It was primarily for E30 318iS owners of AUS, but seems to have members all over.
So, with our 1 year anniversary approaching, I would say that it has been a very good year!

And, the picture of M42, the Orion Nebula, looks very nice on Google as well... :)

Haha yeah, I went through 25 pages of google images (searched for "M42") to no avail in finding our beloved powerplant. The nebula is cool though.

We've definitely come a long way in just under half a year... 234 members as of 9/23/06 and growing. Who wants to predict what this figure will be on the one year anniversary? Betting pool anyone :D

folks can definitely help out in one regard:
link to us on your blogs, personal pages, myspace pages etc. More links to us = higher google and yahoo page rankings.
I have also submitted M42 Club to the DMOZ.org open directory project (please nobody else submit!) ...it provides the directory structure for searches on google and AOL.

I believe that that someone may have been me. As soon as the site opened up, i sent out an email to the group telling them about it. Since then, the only emails i get from that group, is adware selling viagra. Someone might be trying to tell me something. :D

lol
OK, new strategy for fundraising. Let's start spamming the web's inhabitants with singles ads, male "enhancement" pills and ummm nevermind bad idea. I guess we will have to stick with generous donations.
Anyway, back to seriousness. Regarding other searches on Google, "M42 MAF Conversion" shows up one of our threads as the #2 result (the same thread I posted on bimmerforums is #1 still). Just about anything M42 related seems to bring us up within the first 6 results though, so woohoo for that.

Wow, I didn't realize this site was so new. Probly the best e30 site period for just about anything.
