i have a 5spd manual and was tinkering around under the car and found a little label on the bottom side of the tranny near the drain plug.. it was covered in grease/dirt and after i wiped it off, it read ATF OIL and under that AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID.. i always thought we were supposed to put w90 gear oil in our trannys... especially with everyone tossing in REDLINE...

I would recommend Redline D4 ATF.

I would recommend Redline D4 ATF.

I have this in mine and it shifts smoothly :).

Another option is Amsoil Sythetic ATF. Ran it in my last 2 cars.

I got mine from BMA. It was $9/quart.

I just put Redline MTL. I hope the car likes it.

I bought two bottles of ATF for the front andd two for the differential. They used more than one bottle but I had about half if not more given back. So they probably used 1.2-1.5 quarts.

ATF for the diff also?

Don't put ATF in your diff, seriously. Use 75W-90 gear oil with LS additive if you have an LSD.

I had MTL in my tranny and cold shifts were pretty hard. D4 ATF was much better, and better than Mobil 1 ATF.

If I mixed MTL and ATF 50:50, would it be a good medium?

As far as I know MTL is not recommended for axles either. I would really get that out of there and put gear oil in. It has special extreme pressure additives that your ring and pinion need to survive. That's also what makes gear oil reek.

Quick question, the Redline stuff, is that synthetic?
