Matt- Thanks for the tip, and thought that might be a possibility. However, I am suffering from what I refer to as "diving board complex syndrome". I love everything about my 87 Cab, except..... the bumpers. I have an obstacle in selling or trading my 87 for a newer e30 w/o the boards, and I have been married to her for 18 happy years. I don't have the time or the skills to do a plastic swap, and if I am hiring it done, a M tech kit seems to make logical reason, to me atleast. Help? suggestions? Ideas are welcomed. Again- thanks for the feedback, I don't have thin skin.

Gdammit dont call tech1 bodykits fucking scared me :D

get euro bumps yes and a tech1 kit. or even a tech2 kit
Did you know? that all e30 convertible late and early have later arches. so a rear plastic bumper fits fine no Modding needed. Add a replica tech2 valance for late model look and. Late model front. Done and gone;)

I'd go for an M-Tech kit any day...but it's all in the eye of the beholder. We've all seen good ones and bad ones.

Wish I had one to trade though...another M42 would be great to have!

Maybe some Euro bumpers? They look great on the hard tops. I didn't know the ragtops had the same body shells as the later facelift cars, that's good to know.

Matt- Best news I have had for,.. well,.. a long time.:D Even though I have jusk came out of lurking status, I have spent hours reading about early swaps, and for some reason failed to learn that early verts have later arches. It is obvious that you guys know your shit here on the M42club forum. You can delete this thread and save me grief. Sorry about my terminology regauring the tech1/body kit, another lesson learned.
Thanks- I will start parting the 318is Monday, and swaping next week as well. Before/after pics to follow.

I could delete, but others im sure would like to know. 86-90 verts still had metal bumps. late model started 91-92. the early ones are same as late except the rear valance that is stock

So, just to be sure I understand - My 91 318is plastic bumpers will work on my 87 vert w/o mod?

yea. you need late model shocks and mounts to hold them on but they will fit
