I have an old iX I was going to refubish, but it turned out to be a rustbucket, so I decided to install the flares and sideskirts on my iS. I used all factory hardware and 3M tape.

Looks great.
Where do you go from here? Wheels? Were the pieces pre-painted? Where are your mirrors. I have an extra white set if you need to get them.
Do a DIY!

Everything came off of my Alpin Weiss iX that I am parting out. Next for the iS is a M-Technic 1 rear spoiler and geniune Rieger Infinity lip spoiler (the ABS one from Abrahams). I do need a set of white mirrors. Are they in good shape? No paint bubbling on the base plates? If so, let me know how much. I got burned on an ebay set that looked great and then one wouldn't fold in and the paint was bubbled both of the plates due to some weird corrosion problem. Thanks! I am thinking about installing the iX 15x7 basketweave wheels with spacers to accomodate the et41 backspacing of the iX wheels.

Mirrors are in good shape. Came off an 89 325iS. After this thunderstrom passes I will take a pic. Pretty dark outside. No paint bubbles that I noticed but will check. PM with an offer and lets go from there. Also shipping from Orlando.
Like the et41. Just looking to do some Borbet cheapos for now. My car is white also. Just got a complete balck (leather) interior. Seats are ok for free.
BTW, the flares and skirts. Originally, where did you get them?

Yeah - you guys better watch out, your are about to get run over by the Hurricane that is currently over Haiti. I used to live in Ft Lauderdale, so I know the story, raining, 10 minutes later, no rain. I will PM you about the mirrors.

They are from the iX. They are factory pieces that come on all iX's. I just happened on the car one day and bought it for $1,500 from a guy who was way in over his head with repairs. I was going to rebuild it, but it is rusted by all of the jack points and the rockers and the transfer case is in questionable condition. There are 2 people on the e30tech boards selling iX flares/skirts right now. There are 2 skirts and 4 flares that make what you see on my car. I had to get all of the hardware from the stealership. I know a guy at the parts counter, so I got all of the plugs, pins rivets and iX specific moldings for around $90. i re-used the clips that hold them along the bottom and there are a series of plugs and plastic rivets that you have to drill holes for. You also use 3M double sided tape along the edge of all of it.

wow, that looks awesome!
I have a set waiting to be painted, but that is gonna wait until I'm ready to get the body work fixed. Right now I'm going finally ready to take apart my motor for a rebuild...so engine parts are top of the list!

Ditto on the mirror corrosion. Really weird. Both of mine have been attacked by it. :(
I pulled a driver's side one from the yard that is perfect a few months ago. The other one is off my parts car and is clean, but paint is oxodized. How hard is it to repaint one of these???
I imagine you can take the whole thing apart, strip it down and repaint it. For the timing being, I have access to a media blaster. I might get it down to the plastic and then get it repainted when I get my iS lip and decklid spoilers done.

am i the only one that doesn't really dig that look? Maybe its because the stock wheels dont quite make it to the line, if there would be wider wheels on that maybe i'll like it, but i doubt it. I think the iX flares make the car look more outdated, and has more of an 80's feel.

Nic Job. I picked up a set for my 318is for install an now have decided against it since I already have a 325iX. So I will end up running Alpina front spoiler, Mtech rear and Taurus side skirts( $35 at junkie). This way my 2 e30's don't look the same...

Am I the only one that would never put iX skirts and flares on my car?
They might look OK if you were gonna put on some higher offset wheel with a fat lip or some spacers. Maybe...but with the stock wheels, not so much.
IMHO

No, you are not. I would prefer E30 Touring skirts.

iX skirts look so much better in person....
....But wide-offset rims would look much better :)
