So far several changes have already been enacted.
As of now, banned users and awaiting confirmation email users can no longer PM. Spammers were using this as a way to spam users. This plugs that loophole.

Most free email and web email providers are now banned. If you use one currently, you are fine, but no more can you use Hotmail or Yahoo, etc. to register. Most spammers use these as a way to repeatedly re-register as members. This blocks a ton of jerks. Yes, it sucks for new users, but if they want on, they will find a way, I do this on another site I run and it made a HUGE difference.
IP addresses.
The latest major offenders have been blocked. I probably blocked off half of China and Russia just now.
Staff changes.
I made two current moderators into admins, added a 3rd, and they will be able to ban IP addresses. I also added another moderator and will be adding a few more. Also, my messaging has been fixed and the staff knows how to better get ahold of me. I will also be cleaning out dead weight.
Forum updates and registration
A better safer registration system will come as soon as I can get the forum software updated.
Give it a few days and this place will turn around.
