Hey all,
Just a few days ago as I was driving to the muffler shop to get my muffler fixed a lady with a truck and huge fifth wheel pulled right out in front of me. I managed to avoid hitting it but as I swerved I lost the back end, after that I paniced a bit when I saw the suv I was sliding towards and over corrected a bit. It swung the car around and hit the curb and rolled it. I took out on of those power boxes along the way.
All in all the damage wasn't that bad at all. The front window had come out, the two side rims were a little bent on the edges, driver door was pushed in a bit. And the roof had sunk in a few centimeters. But overall the damage was fairly minimal. However the fireman showed up and decided to smash the rest of the windows, cut the roof off, pop the tires, and bend the doors out :D
I'll post some pictures here when I get a chance. So the next day I found a 318i convertable. Its beautiful, dealer serviced its entire life, brand new top etc. I'm just having a little trouble coming up with the money, but hopefully I'll be able to get a loan for it.

Why did they do that?? Were you "trapped" in the car or something? Really sucks to hear that as now you've ruined what would have been a perfect parts car. :(
You should still try to buy it back from the insturance company since they probably don't want it and it will likely cost you between $100-200. And, you have motor and a bunch of spares.
Good luck with the 318i convertible!!! They are great!!! If I lived in a place like Florida or California, I'd probably try to go for one myself as well.

It takes a brave guy to buy a convertible right after rolling a sedan.

Maby I'll try a roll cage in the convertible....I wonder how that would look?
Here are some pictures, one of the fireman was kind enough to get a few shots with our camera :D

You won't need the wheels and tires on your totalled 318is (sorry for your mishap dude), the conv will come with basketweaves. I just bought a 91 318i 4 door with steel wheels and hubcaps. I need some decent wheels and I don't want bottlecaps.

Wow I am really sorry to hear about that. So, why did the FD do all that? Were they taking some sort of precautions since you hit a power box & it migth have been live?
So...uuuh...what you gonna do with that 3 spoke wheel.....?

now you have a convertible though.
Sorry not funny i no.
Wow, that sucks! Sorry to hear about the loss of your E30. Fortunately it kept you safe.
The crappy part is that the lady with the truck probably kept driving despite the havoc she created. She'll forget about it long before you're done dealing with the insurance company.

Actually she did stop. So her insurance covered it, although I didnt get very much for it :(
As far as parts go I'm keeping them for my new covertable and some other project cars. I've given away a few parts that I won't need, but most of it, including the engine will stay.
