Intake Manifold Dilemma
« on: November 20, 2008, 05:04:44 AM »
I have an E36 318is...one of my knock sensor is going out. So far i have removed upper portion of the intake manifold, pulled fuel rail and injectors out and removed 5 more bolts holding the lower manifold. The darn thing doesn't seem to budge. Any help is appreciated.

Here is the diagram:

you need to remove #15 bolts in that picture and the one where the manifold meets the engine head. Then check if there are wires that go under the lower portion of the manifold. If they are there you need to tilt the manifold (after you removed all the bolts) and remove the wires that go to the starter (it's under the manifold). Then it should be free to move out.
I have the M44 engine, what year is your car?
