It isnt bad to retro.
Just dig up a rear seat back (eBay, etc) and get the ski bag hardware from a dealer, I am not sure if that part is still available, but it may be.
The only think you need to really screw with is cutting the metal sheet (the area is stamped to the main sheet) from the metal seperation panel back.
I just did it mainly for the folding arm rest in the back :)
