cylinder head discussion time!!!

yeah sheepdog i'm beginning to agree with you. been in conversation with a friend who's more knowledgeable than me with cylinder heads who thinks that quite a bit of work is reqd on the porting side of things, and that something has to be done about that guide restriction, but that 33mm inlet valves should flow pretty well even at high rpm with my bore/stroke. i may have the 34mms to ensure it flows really well at high rpm though, even if slightly at the expense of low rpm - im hardly short of torque etc down there.
i'm not worrying about any of the peripheral stuff at the moment though, i like to tackle one thing at a time btu do it well. the ITBs are finished anyway, so they dont need any more time or money spent on them.

the major questions still to be answered remain:
-M44 or M42 head?
-what to do with the valve guide obstruction on the inlet path
-exactly how to flow the inlet

I know on Febi's they just slimmed the heck out of the valve guides. Cleaned it up a lot as they are quite large.

Cooling channels are not too small in head gasket? Do i have to modify my head gasket? Old and new one looks the same..

In an M10 I built i put the valve guides in a lathe and turned them down to a conical shape.  Should work in the m42 too.
