coolant loss...thoughts, help!
« on: May 22, 2007, 08:22:05 PM »
I'm pretty sure the coolant loss is from some hoses up under the intake manifold area (throttle body coolant?).

I can see a bit of coolant and crystals on the driver's side of the engine following some of the ridges on the engine...looks like it is coming from fairly high up on the engine area.   Assuming it is a single leak, following the rule of gravity (sh*t runs downhill), it looks like it is from high up in the front left area of the engine--not readily visible under the upper engine accessories (air intake, manifold, etc.).   Not a huge leak, just an annoyance that I want to get fixed.

No puddles noticed.

I do notice a "Sweet" smell on running and after stopping while it is hot.

Looses about a quart of coolant in 750 miles.

No mixing of coolant and oil (both are clean).

Anyone have pics of the tangle of hoses for the throttle body?   It does get cold enough in PA to warrant not deleting the hoses.

Even a few thoughts on what size hoses (and rough lengths) would be great...that way I can have replacements on hand before starting out.

Thanks!!

If the leak really is from the heater plate behind the throttle bodie or any of the tubeing i suggest doing this i just did it and it seems to be working great so far...
