Downing atlanta has been something I've been very strongly considering lately, I'd like to go turbo, but to much custom fab, and their s/c kit is basically bolt on. I'm not looking for redamndiculously big power gains, but a s/c would be way bad ass. Look at the mini's, those things sound so sick with an upgraded s/c kit, not to mention they're damn quick to.

i did a little digging on the grassroots motorsport s/c and discovered that it's a Downing Atlanta S/C kit for a Z3 made to fit and added 16lbs in weight to the car. sounds good to me so far...

Well how much actually changed motor wise between the '91 to '92 318iS? I thought they were relatively a similar car, except the body chassis.

in '92 the m42 had a different intake manifold, new serpentine system, and a new engine management system.

The DASC will bolt to our engine, downing just has never bothered to make a v-belt drive or software that would allow us to use it.

Any idea what would be needed to make it work, and how difficult? I'm fairly new at complicated engine work, but bolt-on with a little modification is always a good thing.

We'll have to wait for the new issue. It will be several weeks before it comes out. Any yes, DASC is only for the E36 but GRM has adapted it to the E30.

I think the best way to do it would be to swap the entire pulley system from the later m42 and use Megasquirt or a piggyback to control fuel issues. The stock timing curve wouldnt be optimal but I bet it would work.

I would be wary of KO performance. There is a 20 page thread at 318ti.org about them.

hahahahaha if i wasn't in class i would be on the floor laughing, that is horrible. the welds are nasty looking, and that plate... oh man words cannot express the poor fabrication of this... its like a 3 cylinder settup.

I'm fighting the urge to change those IMG tags to like... URL tags... those pictures are disturbing... this is a family-oriented show!

My JB welds are definitely better than their JB welds --it's all in the wrist, btw.
