It's over $500 for primer, base, and clear coat in Glasurit, Spies-Hecker, Sikkens, etc. It's the same in Dupont and PPG for their top of the line. You can get lower quality and price in Dupont and PPG but not the the first three. Then there's all the stuff you don't think about that doesn't cost big bucks but just keeps adding up. I pulled all of the trim and glass and did the prep work. The shop sprayed, color sanded and buffed it. I picked it up, put in the taillights in the parking lot and drove it home without even a windshield.
On a 16 year old car it's hard to justify a top of the line paint job that costs twice what the car is worth and it's easy to live with a few imperfections and not do door jambs, etc.
