Front Spoiler
« on: January 19, 2007, 10:55:48 PM »
I have a front spoiler that needs to be replaced its cracked, and bent up so I was looking on ebay when I came across this.

I think it looks pretty cool but the guy is in Bangkok and I dont feel like spending 95 bucks on shipping and being that far away I don't really want to give him my money, so is there any one in the U.S. that makes these? any help would be awesome, thanks!

After market front valance. Listed for convertible but part # is same for sedan:
http://www.partstrain.com
Search for Valance for a 1991 E30 325i Cabriolet.
The BMW "is" spoiler from BMA is approximately $160 shipped. This will give you the OEM 318is look.
The ebay stuff is fiberglass made from a mold popped off of the original Alpina part. It is brittle and has no give. It cracks easily. Mounting can be a problem.

Do you know if it will it crack out of the blue due to weather and all that?

It should NOT crack just due to the weather .

That piece being fg is fine but it is going to be brittle and when it impacts something it more likely to crack or splinter , good news is that could be easily fixed by any bodyshop .

To the OP : That eBay Alpina knock-off is actually a good buy even with the $95 shipping .
Its would be able to cover your beat metal valence and replace the lip all at once .

In my book less than $250 beats $325 plus shipping on the valence any day .
Plus you get a custom look while you're at it .

I am always scared of the ALpine and other ones that can crack easily when hit.  I try to be super careful, but I have unclipped a few of my clips from time to time, and seeing how virtually no used e30s (non-enthusiast owned)  even have their front lip, just proves wear and tear might be a concern on an expesnive item.

But the alpina look is badass and nobody has it.  I bought my front lip for 160 total from my stealership.

The first time I saw Flexible Fiber Glass it wouldn't rip at all. The racing equivalent of a dribble glass. It has too little of one of the two things you mix for hardener. This is a link to a video from an ebay site that sells it for ricers.
