At the front and middle of the head below intake manifold there should be 2 temp sensors. 1 for gauge and 1 for computer. But they combined them into one sensor on later models. I think this is where your problem is.

Yes, i have 2 sensors.first near the oil filter is blue.the other one i dont know what color is.is not compatible the e36 sensor with e30 gauge?what sensor can i use? From M40/M42/M10? E 30 series?

Hi. Im doing the same Swap.
Can you help me with the wiring?
For the temperture gauge you need the brown temp sensor. You can connect them direct in the cluster. A single cable.
