FS: SOCAL - 1991 Refreshed M42/Getrag 240
« on: February 23, 2015, 02:32:39 PM »
I unfortunately have parted out my M42 swapped 1980 BMW 320i (E21) project and now have the engine and transmission for sale.

This is a completely refreshed engine with the following new parts;

 Piston Rings
 Crankshaft Bearings (360*)
 Rod Bearings
 Water Pump (Metal Composite Impeller)
 Starter
 Alternator
 Injectors
 Vacuum Hoses
 Intake Boot
 Machined Head
 Gaskets/seals
 Coil-On Plug Conversion
 Timing Guide Rails
 Spark Plugs
 Belts

The engine originally had 177k miles. Since the refresh, I've only put about 30 miles.

I'm located in Chino Hills, CA 91709 and everything is available for immediate pick up.

My asking price is $950.00. Please keep in mind that this is a complete, running engine with upgraded parts, wiring harness, ecu, and transmission.

Please PM if you have any questions. Thanks for your time folks.

Can I ask why you're parting the car? Just wondering if you were ultimately unsatisfied with the E21 M42 combo. GLWS, looks like this will be a great setup for someone!

I unexpectedly quit my job a few months ago and have not been able to find work. Since I can't fund the project anymore and the fact that we're going to be selling our house, I have no place to store the car, thus leading to the part out.

I loved the E21/M42 combo. It brings life to an old classic. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the car and wish I didn't have to get rid of it.

I hope it finds a permanent home this time around...

Great to see you have this sold - looks fantastic,

Can I ask how you got that finish on the engine mount arms, timing covers, filter housing etc?

Is that painted or blasted ?

I am just building mine right now and I would love to know!

thanks.
