Need Disa help 94 318is m42

still new to this site but check engine comes on and goes off whenever it wants to in my 94 318is with the m42 took it to an import dealer by me cause a bmw dealer to far of a drive and he says its throwing code 1238 disa valve inop check vaccum or one way check valve instead of spending 300+ on a new disa valve i see that it is vaccum powered i replaced a bunch of lines but i have and always had one that has not had a spot if your looking at a vaccum diagram from the bmw dealership part number one is a canister looking thing with to lines on it the one that is sunk into the canister is the one i have that goes nowhere was no line on it when i replaced my lines does anyone have any clue what that line is or how to test the disa valve? on the pic it is part 1

I am not too sure what that canister part is in your picture, but from my Porsche days I seriously doubt that canister has anything to do with vacuum or lack thereof, I would look in to the part just above it #6 as it appears to be a relief valve?  Do you know anybody with the same car you can swap parts with to see? Maybe a reclamation/junk yard?
