I just did this today with a 1/2 impact gun. The one thing that I did before I started was lube it down with PB blaster for a day. I have a ingersol rand that put out 600lbs in reverse and 300 going forward. Had no problem getting it out Has anyone seen a damper separate from a pulley, what ever the glue/bonding agent that was use to hold it in place decided not to hold anymore.

i always use a chain with teeth to hold the crank pulley. it works great. i think autozone have it.

Pretty rare problem, but does occur when the rubber bonding the toothed wheel to the pulley ages and lets go. Unfortunately a new one from BMW is $700+, so a used one is the way to go.

I'm still working on the block. I have a buddy helping me out. He looked at one of the crank bearings and said they were in good shape. Should I still order new bearings for the whole crank?
