Yeah, optimally i would like another vehicle.  Unfortunately, I just cannot justify buying another one with all my school loans looming over me.

For what it will cost to do all of this to your e30, you could buy a cheap little Nissan or something which is not as delicate. Could even get an older awd/4wd Subaru.

You can find cheap beaters like this for under a grand.  If you destroy, go buy another.

Not glamorous, but at least your e30 stays in good shape.

Haha but but but I like driving my E30.  90% of places I go are gonna be on well paved highway.  Taking it off-road will be a very rare occasion (and off-road is defined as like gravel).  I figure these cars were designed for cruising, so I am damn well gonna use it for that!

Don't sacrifice your E30...   keep it good handling and all.  Hold off on your upcoming E30 projects, and save up a little and go buy a decent beater vehicle.  Trust me, having a beater is great.  I highly reccomend it to everyone.  

Go find a good Jeep or truck type thing for under $2K and you'll be happy.  I'm a Jeep guy so I'm biassed, but there's plenty of good beater vehicles out there that will take you where you want to go.  

Start browsing around on Craiglist and you'll be supprised what you can find.

Oh I would LOVE to have a beater.  I just cannot justify a needless vehicle right now with school loans making by rear sore.  My roommate had a $250 beater he bought JUST for trashing back in college.  Passenger seat was a lawn chair.  We'd beat it with a bat just for fun...everything but the windows.  After a year or so of good thrashing (up curbs, all sorts of shit) he finally drive it over a levee into a river.  It was gone like 3 days later.  Quite the riot.
