Problem with power loss
« on: September 23, 2009, 04:51:52 AM »
Hi All, I am new on the forum, and i hope someone can give me some advice.

I own a 1990 318is (pictures to follow). Over the last couple of days the car has seemed to develop. It wont seem to let me go past 3,000 rpm in any gear and in idle it wont let me rev past 3,000 rpm either? it loses all power but ticks over nicely on idle.

However, when i turn the ignition off, leave it for a few seconds then start it up again, it will drive fine again, like nothing has happened? then after a few miles of driving it develops the fault again

Please help. Thanks

maybe bad injectors or fuel pump?  if it won't go over a certain RPM, maybe there is a lack of fuel?
