took my bimmer to the dealer the other day and they say i need to overhaul my whole suspension. i live in northern michigan whair paved roads are few. i dont think that a streey setup suspension would be my best option. i want to keep my ride heigth and go with a more rally type suspension. what is out there for a more offroad tall suspension option.

the only thing that i know of that would give you a little more ground clearance is to get the ground control coil over kit and then some bilstein HD shocks. You pre load the springs so the car will sit higher. You could probably get some offset control arm bushings and mount them backwards to add a little negative camber bucause when you lift it, the wheels will get some positive camber

How about H&R OE sports? About stock ride height but stiffer. I would pair them with bilstein sports.

I agree with Haledj on the springs, but the Bilstein Sports are shorter. They are designed for lowering springs. Go with the Bilstein HD.

If you want to increase ridee height over stock. You could also get the thickest version of spring spacer (those rubber bushings at the top and bottom of the spring). BMW made them in different thicknesses to adjust ride height on different models. I'm not sure what models got which so it may take some junkyard diving to find what you need. The ones that came out of my cabrio were pretty thick so that may be a good place to start.
