Looks like there aren't any good solutions for supercharging these engines.  Guess I'll have to go turbo like everyone else.

Here in the UK supercharging seems the way when it comes to FI on M42s, I don't know of any UK turbo M42s but know of 2 that have been sucessfully supercharged. Not sure why that is, maybe driving on our roads is more suited to the low down torque of a supercharger, but I still wanna turbo the touring

im building my m42 to turbo soon as well.

i was curious as to what chip you are useing? as primarily ill be using the stock ecu as well.  going to get an Apexi AFC select for the fuel, just need a chip to deal with ignition timing.

Right i'm using a custom chip but it doesn't run that ok. I just picked up the Haltech e6x yesterday. Was hoping to get it installed ASAP but unfortunately due to the wet roads and a little of my own stupidity i managed to wreck my car. The back is toast. I have to change both fenders, trunk floor, trunk and the member with the taillights, the rest is untouched.

Weaksauce.... sorry to hear it.  Was following closely for your final decision on engine management.  Everyone I talk to locally says MS, but I haven't been able to find exact info when talking m42's.  My turbo is a nice small unit from a Volvo and should spool up pretty quick.  I'm hoping around 2500-3000.  Want to run it at 8lbs.  Should be interesting.  Just have to wait to pick up the rest of the needed equipment and of course been looking around for best management route.

Good luck with her, hope you can get her back on the road quickly.

Thanks everyone!
Went to the dealer today and ordered everything new, OEM: trunk floor, both fenders, tail panel. As soon as the parts get here (around a week) i'll take the car to the body shop to fix it. After that i'll come back with oppinions about the e6x. :)
Cheers and good luck!
