Ummm I'm guessing ur right hand drive?  Wish I could help... lol wish I had a right hand drive, that would be pretty wicked.  Removing the manifold on a left hand drive car is hard enough... I can only imagine on the right hander.

Hi, I'm replacing my manifold on my RHD E36 318is (very awkward positioning) this weekend. I had my car lifted on a hoist to inspect it. You have to unbolt the 4 flange bolts at the downpipe to the cat. Then unbolt all the copper nuts on the head. Once you have done that, starting moving the manifold away from the studs and see if you can manouever it out. If you can't just unbolt the single bolt just below the universal joint on the steering column where it meets with the rack. Good luck

Thanks for your help guys, It was a royal pain in the a**, the previous owner had replaced the center section before and had use normal nuts and bolts so they had seized into place, tried drilling them with no joy, so i had to cut the center section off, to get the manifold out i had to undo the engine mount and then lift the engine. damn nightmare! thanks for your help all.
