Billy Mays for the DENT PULLER!
« on: June 14, 2008, 12:10:21 AM »
Holy crap I hate that guy, but in an act of desperation and curiosity I bought one of the $19.99 dent puller kits from Pep Boys with the glue gun and the puller.  I had a big 'soft' dent on the hood near one of the creases.  The paintless dent repair guys wanted $125 to get it out so I figured what the hell.

Well I gotta tell ya'... it worked!  It took about 6 goes at it, melting the wax and sticking the post to the car, then pulling it until it popped free from the wax, then removing the wax and doing it again, but after 6 tries or so the dent is gone.  Well it's still a little noticeable but just barely.  I gotta say I'm friggin' impressed!

So, if anyone out there has some dents and dings that you would like gone, I hate to admit it but this thing earns its $20 quick!

Adam

P.S.  I also got my IS lip in today, painted and installed on new clips, drained all the oil and replaced the lower pan gasket checking all the upper gasket bolts (all there!  Just torqued them a tad) AND re-ran all new speaker wire throughout the car and installed an Alpine CD/MP3/iPod head unit.  It was a good day!

How big was your dent?

I have a huge one on my pass quarter panel, under the side molding.  Huge as in about 6" across and 5"down. :(

Mine was about 4-5" in diameter.  It might still work for yours.  If you were anywhere near Texas you could just try it with my kit.

I've pulled a few dents out of the Cherokee that I used to drive with one of those.  Pleasantly surprised.  I think I got mine at Harbor Freight.
