a "cheap" turbo build
« on: May 26, 2008, 03:38:50 PM »
:confused:hi ive seached about turboing the m42 but im still confused.

Im looking at getting about 220 bhp out of stock internals. Is this achievable?
is there any "kits" available ?

This is going to be a cheap build but i wont be doin it until the end of the year or early nxt year.

The engine in my e30 318is has 160,000 miles on her so i will be looking at getting a different engine with less millage and stripping it maybe changing crank bearings ect.

information and any links would be nice, also anybody near nottingham england whos done this and is willing to show me and give me sum advice would be great.

 cheers simon..

Look for Downing Atlanta Supercharging (DASC) kits.  Though I'm not sure they modified their E36 kit for the E30.

No they didn't modifiy their kit yet... although grassroots has a writeup of their install into an E30. I believe they said "it was the perfect" E30 but who knows? Also if your looking for a "cheap" kit check out the http://www.turbogoods.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=9
manifold. It looks to be a cheap solution. Although I'm still learning about turbo's.
