Problem with MarkD chip
« on: May 13, 2008, 02:26:23 PM »
Hello,

I'm new here on this forum and i am hoping that someone can solve my problem.

I bought a MarkD chip 93 octane. But now my engine is running verry bad.
On idle and beneath 3500rpm the engine is running verry bad, like it gets to much gasoline. When i keep the throttle for example at 2000rpm the car starts slowing down, like the engine is getting no air.
Sometimes the engine cuts off on idle too.

The problem begins 2 minutes after cold start.

But once above 3500rpm the engine runs verry good.

I put my original chip back in and everything was ok...

I am from Belgium, so i think that maybe there is a difference between an european 318is and an USA version.

Can anyone help me along?

I think you have possibly answered your own question.

For a absolute correct answer I think you will need to contact MarkD or the vendor that sold you the chip.

Does your car have an O2 sensor in the exhaust?

There are 2 version of motronic 1.7 used on the E30/M42. One for cars with a catalytic converter and O2 sensor sold in the US and a few other markets, and one for the rest of the world without an O2 sensor.
Sold but not forgotten

This is whats wrong with your car.

Had contact with MarkD.
Said that the software could slightly be different between an USa and my version.
He will try to make another chip by the number of my original chip.µ

So lets hope it will work!
