Frankie guessed he gained few hp from throttle body heater bypass so I decided to try it out too. I bought few bolts and fasteners the I will use to block the coolant lines going to heater plate tomorrow.

I also removed throttle body and took it home to see if there is any easy ways to improve it.

I planned to thin out the throttle plate axles so they would affect the airflow less. Unfortunately it seemed too difficult to remove the axles from body and I did not want to machine axles in place to avoid damaging the delicate seal between plate and body so I had to let that plan pass...

Instead I noticed that throttle plates over open ie. on full throttle plate has already starting to close the air passage again. This is also supported my experience that car actually accelerates better on about 90% throttle instead ot 100%.

I bored small hole to throttle axle stop and put a small bolt trought it. End of the bolt stops axle movement about 2 mm earlier than before and throttle plate is in 90 degree angle to airflow.

good idea.. i have already done that! i am gonna try to remove the throttle plates... i have some more throttle bodies for experiment.. we will see, i think there are a few hp hidden in the construction..

If anyone is able to remove the axles from body please post instructions here! Both axles are split in the middle and one half can be removed, atleast partly.

Do you have any better shots of the mod & the throttle butterflies? Meaning, do you have any pics now of the throttle body back on the car /w the throttle linkage hooked up? I'm curious to see how your mod "works" w/ the unit reinstalled into the car & the cable hookup...

Good idea though, I know exactly what you mean because I have felt the difference between full WOT and a 90% WOT - at 90% WOT, the throttle seemed more responsive as did the engine.

Just installed the modded TB and removed TB heater element, on side of the street right at the city center during morning rush hour :p

I thought just bypassing the heater plate but I noticed one side of the plate mismatched the TB port, it extended some 3-4 mm to port so I decided to get rid of the heater plate alltogether. It would have been possible to bypass the plate (to connect the hoses together) afterall but I did not have suitable pipe to put between them so I just plugged the hoses with M10 bolts and put hose fasterners around them. Will not leak, I hope.

Car runs nice, idles as before and the "best acceleration at 90% throttle" has went away so I optimistically hope that 100% throttle is now actually 100% throttle
