i had to go visit my parents for easter this sunday at their farm which is about 150+/- km from Montreal.
my car started to idle very roughly when coming to a stop. it started earlier in the ride but i decided to take a chance and go on.
on the highway it happened a few times that the engine would give little shock or wouldn't accelerate for a second.
got to their farm after a little cherry picking/360 spin-off/get away in the fields sideways at 60km/h /wait an hour for a towing/roads are still f***g icy/lucky no cars were in the way !
anyways, idle was even worse by the time when i got there. felt like i was losing power or at least response from the engine.
it sounds like there's an ignition problem, at first i thought it was the ICV but when i started hearing misfires i knew something else was going on. i cleaned the TPS connections, shook the ICV, cleaned the ignition wires with WD40, checked oil and coolant (both due for a change, low on coolant, oil is fine. very little mayo on top of dip stick.. i guess its condensation since its -15Celsius outside), .
i will check if i have spark on all cylinders when i go back in a few weeks.it might also be time for a COP conversion. i will change the timing belt tensionner, remove the valve cover and intake, inspect everything and clean the ICV
the problem was there before (in really cold or humid weather) now its even worst, just didnt felt like driving back 150km with it
now i'm back to the days when skateboards were my daily drivers!
if anyone has suggestions on what to check / replace or any tests than would help me through this please let me know
i wish everyone a great easter
